Wholesale Commercial Film Greenhouse Farm Structure Kit for Growers

The kit is built for a buyer who is ordering for a project rather than for a garden: a hot galvanized steel skeleton, an anti-drip UV resistant film cover, and fixings delivered with pre punched holes and numbered components so the sections go together in the order they were drawn. Widths run from 6 m to 10 m with 8 m as standard and lengths from 10 m to 100 m, so a 100 square metre nursery bay and a multi bay commercial range come out of the same component set. Sheet or film, ventilation, irrigation and shading are all specified on the same order.

Product Description

Buying a greenhouse wholesale is a different exercise from buying one house. The buyer is usually ordering for a project with a schedule, or for resale, and what decides whether the order works is not the covering but the paperwork behind it: whether the sections are drilled where the drawing says, whether the parts arrive identified, and whether the second bay is the same as the first.

What a Wholesale Kit Has to Get Right

Three things are worth checking on a bulk order. The first is that the frame arrives pre punched and numbered, because a site that has to mark up and drill sections loses days and makes mistakes. The second is that the covering matches the frame, since film ordered on clip spacing decided after the frame is made will not tension properly. The third is consistency, because a project that runs over two deliveries will not accept a second batch that is a gauge lighter than the first.

Supplying the structure as a kit is how those three are controlled. The sections, the film, the clips and the fastenings all come off one drawing, so nothing is adapted on site. The wider film range is listed on the film greenhouse range page on this site.

Skeleton and Cover

The skeleton is hot galvanized steel pipe, galvanized after forming so the zinc is bonded to the steel and reaches the bore, the cut ends and the wall of every pre punched hole. That is what a commercial house depends on, because the frame does not fail by bending first: it fails by rust starting where the post meets wet soil and at any hole that was left uncoated. Sections are bolted rather than welded, so a damaged member is unbolted and replaced rather than cut out.

The cover is a film with an anti drip and UV resistant treatment. Anti drip is the treatment that matters in a closed house, since condensation forming on the inner face and falling onto the canopy is how leaf disease moves through a bay. The film transmits light evenly across the width rather than passing it as a beam down the centre of the run, and it is renewed as a roll over the bay rather than panel by panel. A single span film house on the same principle is described in the commercial single span film greenhouse.

Assembly Data and Bay Layout

Every kit ships with pre punched holes and numbered components, so the sections go together in the order they were drawn and the sequence does not have to be worked out on site. That matters most on a bulk order, where the crew raising the fifth house should be able to assemble it from the same labelling rather than from memory of the first.

Bay layout is the other decision worth settling before the order. Widths run from 6 m to 10 m with 8 m as the standard, and the bay width sets both the working room between rows and the way the roof carries its load. Length is built from 10 m to 100 m by repeating bays, so a project can start with a nursery bay and extend later on the same section rather than ordering a second structure. A single span tunnel house is described in the single span tunnel greenhouse.

Supply, Packing and Delivery

The order ships flat, with the frame banded as sections and the film on rolls, which is the packing that keeps container volume down on a bulk order and keeps the coating intact in transit. Cut ends are the part to check on arrival, because a bundle that has been dragged rather than lifted shows bright metal at the ends and that is where rust starts. Film rolls are stored out of direct sun until they go on the frame.

Where a member is shortened on site, the exposed face takes a cold galvanizing repair compound and any hole drilled on site is treated the same way. No welding is done on the frame, which is what keeps the coating whole at every connection and lets a damaged section be replaced without disturbing the cover around it. Our engineers can attend or guide installation where a project asks for it.

Applications

Wholesale kits of this type are used by distributors building to order, by growers erecting their own ranges, and by projects that order the structure and the cover as separate line items on one purchase order. They suit vegetable, seedling and cut flower production, and operations that intend to prove a crop programme in one bay before building the full area.

Industry guidance for ornamental and greenhouse producers is published by AIPH, the International Association of Horticultural Producers. Reporting on controlled environment production, including how these projects are built and financed, is published by VerticalFarmDaily. The question that decides the specification is normally the crop the house will be running in ten years, not only at handover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a wholesale kit different from a single house order?

Consistency and labelling. On a bulk order the frame has to arrive pre punched and numbered so each bay goes together the same way, and the second delivery has to match the first in section and in coating. Those two points decide whether a multi house project runs to schedule.

Can the same kit be built at different sizes?

Yes. Widths run from 6 m to 10 m with 8 m as standard, and the length is built from 10 m to 100 m by repeating bays on one section. That means a 100 square metre nursery bay and a multi bay commercial range come from the same component set rather than from two different designs.

How long does the structure last?

The galvanized steel frame is rated for 15 to 20 years under normal growing conditions. The film cover runs on a shorter cycle than the frame, typically 3 to 5 years depending on UV exposure at the site.

What warranty is included?

We provide a 10 year structural warranty and a 5 year anti-corrosion warranty on the galvanized frame. Details are set out in the contract for each project.
